Bear hug

Even though we've been trapped in the house since Tuesday, we haven't touched each other for fear of spreading more germs. We've been sitting on separate couches and don't even touch feet when we lay in bed. Today I couldn't take it anymore...I needed a Brian bear hug. Wow! Did it feel good! I think I've asked for 7 more bear hugs since...making up for the past 6 days. There's nothing like having my hubby's strong arms wrapped around me and my head nestled in his neck.

Jadie got her wish

Jadie got her wish yesterday. After 3 days of sitting inside with us and staring out the window at the kids and other dogs, we took her for a much deserved walk. We walked her to the baseball field and tested her by taking her off the leash. We've done this 2 other times and she's been good. The other 2 times we would find a stick and she'd fetch it all day along if we let her. As long as she is focused on fetching I think she forgets that she's not on a leash. I went to Petsmart yesterday and bought her a new toy that we could throw for her to fetch. Man did she have a ball!! She was SO happy to be outside and run around! I wish I had the flip with me to video how happy she was but I forgot it so I had to take pics with my cell phone. It was hard to get any good pics because she wouldn't sit still so I'll have to remember to bring the flip next time. She's such an awesome dog!

Both of us are sick

Don't come over to the McFadyen household.....we are both sick! Ugh! Brian went to the Dr. yesterday and has strep throat. I did work yesterday but throughout the night I got worse. I woke up with a fever and went to the Dr. I have an upper respitory infection...so not as bad as Brian. But the Dr. told us to take it easy so that it doesn't turn into the flu. Ugh! We've been laying around and sleeping most of the day today. Poor Jadie is bored! She keeps staring at us to take her for a walk but we just don't want to move. We promised her a long walk when we get better.

To make matters worse, we should be ouside with the neighbors watching the Phillies game. We have watched it together every night but last Friday....and they lost that night. So, we apologize in advance if they loose tonight. The neighbors are outside and we keep texting and calling them...hopeing to make it as if we are out there. GO PHILLIES!!!

Emma & Joel's birthday party

Last night we went with the Lender's (next door neighbors) to Emma & Joel's birthday party. It was at Ceil's Mom's house. We had dinner and cake for Emma's portion of the party...then as the night went on it turned into Joel's birthday party. Brian and I learned how to play 31, a fun card game. It was yet another fun time with the neighbors!

Friday night at the Miller's

Friday night we went over to Chris & Jamie Miller's house. Jamie made us dinner and we sat around the kitchen table most of the night chatting and catching up. Jack was born in August and this was our 1st time meeting him. He's so adorable and such a good baby! I think we heard him cry 1 time the whole time we were there. Tommy was as cute as always. He was much more talkative than the last time we saw him.....he's developing such a little personality. We had a very nice time hangin' with the Miller's and look forward to the next time together.

Bauer girls doing well

I spoke to Nicole this week and the girls are doing well. Alyssa & Katelyn were born on Sept 2nd, 3 months early. They have each had a few surgeries but are hangin' in. They are tough little girls. Nicole sounded wonderful when we spoke. Brian and I think about them a lot and send all our best wishes & prayers their way.

Arizona visit with the Waslefsky's

This past weekend Brian and I flew out to Arizona to visit Aunt Linda, Uncle Jack, and the Waslefsky cousins.
Our flight out on Thurs night was quite eventful. About 3/4's of the way there a woman sitting in the row next to us was going into diabetic shock. Thankfully there was a Dr. and a Nurse on board. They worked on her for about 1/2 hour and then asked to have the plane landed so she could get to the hospital. 15 minutes later we were on the ground in Texas. Once the EMT's got her and her family safely off the plane we were back in the air and on our way to Phoenix. It was very scary to be sitting next to the family and observing the whole thing. I'm saying a prayer that she made it through ok....but I'm sure she did.

Anyway....back to the happiness part of this weekend.....we got to AZ late Thurs evening and Aunt Linda & Uncle Jack too us out to dinner. We were in bed early that night but were awake at 5:30am! We were still on East Coast time so to us it was 8:30am. We figured we'd get up, take showers, and be ready for the day. Aunt Linda & Uncle Jack took us to Sedona. It was a 2 1/2 hour drive each way but it was totally worth it! It was absolutely beautiful to see all the red rock. We walked around the shops and had lunch. That night we went to Brett & Carrie's house for dinner with everyone. We had a blast laughing and telling stories throughout dinner. After dinner the guys played basketball outside and the ladies stayed inside to watch Brian & my wedding video. Saturday morning we slept in a little longer than the day before. Brian went golfing with the guys, while Aunt Linda took me to Scottsdale. We walked around the shops and then met Carrie, Tracey, and the kids (Shane, Hayley, Collette, and Karson) at the pumpkin patch. The kids had a ball! The farm was SO much bigger than the farms here in NJ!! There were rides, a corn maze, a tractor ride, a show, shops, and of course pumpkins! The kids were all thankful that I wanted to go there instead of boring them with shopping. After, we all met up at John & Tracey's house for appetizers and cocktails before we went out to dinner. The restaurant was a really cool place. We sat outside listening to a band and sitting by the fire. Sunday morning we woke up bright and early to head home.

We had a blast with the family this weekend! Their houses are all so beautiful and they were wonderful hosts/tour-guides. We can't wait to go there again!!!

Livi's 4th b-day party

Today was Livi's 4th b-day party. It was at the Smith Kid's Play Place in Philly and it was so much fun. The kids all had a great time! I think I saw Livi a total of 5 minutes the whole time....she had a blast running around with all her friends. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and made for a wonderful day!

Jeremy's surprise 35th birthday party

Last night Jeremy's wife Jen surprised him with a 35th birthday party. It was at Villa Barone in Collingswood. She invited about 30 of his friends and family members. Jeremy was definitely surprised! He walked into the room and when we yelled "surprise" he got embarrassed, turned around, and walked the other way. Ha! He did come back in moments later and we all wished him a happy birthday. The food was awesome there...we will definitely go back! We had a 5 course meal and were filled up by the 3rd course. It was a great evening with friends.

Guess who stole Daddy's pillow?

When Brian got out of the shower this morning and walked in the bedroom this is what he saw. HAHA!

Dinner and drinks

Last night we went to La Posada for dinner with Dana, Anthony, Antonella, Rick, Nicole, Mike, Melissa and Jimmy. We realized it was time to leave when they started vacuuming the restaurant floors. We took the hint and went to Fridays for another drink. We had lots of laughs and an overall awesome time.

House is off the market

This week we made the tough decision to take the house off the market. We've been talking about it for a couple weeks now and decided this week to do it. The more and more we thought about it, it wasn't the right time for us to move. The right time will come and we are willing to wait for it. In the meantime we will work on our house and make some upgrades. We are looking forward to that!

Ouch...my nose

The other night Jadie and I were sitting on the bed and Harvey walked by. Jadie jumped up, whipped her head around and her face smacked me in the face. I was in immediate pain and cried really hard. I thought maybe my nose was broken and bleeding. Brian ran to get me ice and I asked him to tell me how it looked because I was afraid to look. It wasn't broken and wasn't bleeding....thank goodness! The next day Brian told me that he was afraid I was going to look like Ryan Howard....oh boy.

Pumpkin pickin' date

Earlier this week Brian and I went on a pumpkin pickin' date. We went to Johnson's farm in Medford. Being that it was during the week there was practically no one there so we felt like we had the run of the place. I picked my pumpkin right away but he mulled over his decision for a while. I was laughing and teasing him because I couldn't believe how indecisive he was being. Finally he picked his and then we walked over to the little pumpkins. We picked out 1 each for Autumn, Harvey, and Jadie. This is something we always did as kids when we went pumpkin picking...we always picked one out for Buddy! (aww..."the Bud-Man"...I miss him!) After that we picked out mums for our front step and then walked around inside at the bakery. We grabbed coffee and looked at all the wonderful-looking goodies. Even though we are trying to be good and get back on the weight-loss wagon we HAD to get our traditional cider donuts. However instead of getting the 1/2 dozen that we usually get we just got one each and saved it for dessert that night after dinner. (I'm proud of us!) It was such a fun date. I know you are probably laughing but to me it was super fun. Anyone that knows me knows that the fall is my absolute favorite. I just love the fresh/crisp air, the warm colors all around, football, and being cozy on the couch in sweats. Pumpkin picking was always a family tradition for us as kids and it's something I started with Brian & I right away. Usually we'd go the weekend of my birthday and made it part of my birthday celebration. So, maybe that's why I love pumpkin picking so much?? Haha! So, I guess my birthday week celebration has begun! :)

It's funny because I told Mom last night about our date and she said "let me guess....your pumpkin was completely round and fat." Haha! She was right! She said I pick out the same pumpkin every year....it's almost as if my pumpkin gets re-incarnated every year. Too funny!
