St. Patty's Day craft time at home

Valentine's Day - at the Dr's ofice

The boys had a cold again last week. By the time we got to Thursday their symptoms seemed worse so we decided to keep them home and take them to the Dr. It did turn out that it was just a cold, thank goodness, so no meds needed. We did however, spend most of Valentine's morning in the Dr. office. But we had a great evening. I made the traditional heart-shaped meatloaf and mashed potatoes that my Mom made every year. I even served it on top of paper doilies like she always did. Of course Brian and I had some wine to celebrate the holiday. It was a low-key night but just what we all needed to wind down from a crazy week.

Phasing out the binky

We've been taking "baby steps" to phase out the binky. For about the past 5 months or so we've only allowed it in the car or for sleeping time. About a month ago we stopped allowing it in the car and they've done a really good job with it. I've been wanting to remove it at nap time but have been holding off. Brian knew that I just needed a push so last week when he dropped them off at day-care he gave her the go-ahead to not give it to them at nap-time. I was shocked but ultimately I was ok with it. Over the weekend we have continued with no binky at nap-time and it's not that bad. They both cry for about 15 minutes when we put them down but they do fall asleep. They wake up every so often throughout the nap and cry because they are looking for the binky but eventually fall back to sleep. It's definitely hard for me to hear them crying but I know it'll only get better. So, the only time they have the binky now is at night time and I'm thinking it won't be much longer for that either. Our babies are growing up so fast!

Lookin' out for little brother

Evan is always looking out for his brother. He's constantly saying "Ga!? Ga!?" When we are out shopping and Brian and I each take the boys in different parts of the store the whole time Evan is calling for his brother. When he brings a book over to me to read he calls out for Ga to tell him its story time. When he is in the living room and wants to show Ga something he calls him. When its time to eat dinner and Ga is in the other room Evan yells for him. It's adorable! He's such a good big brother!

Valentine's class

This week at class the boys walked right in and started playing right away. I was sooo proud of them. I was actually able to sit and talk with the other Mommy's! During circle time the teacher asked the kids to grab bean bags. Evan got right up and walked to the center. I told him to grab 2 and give one to his brother. He did just that! Another Mommy complimented about how well he followed instruction. (I was beaming - so proud!) At craft time they both sat at the table and made their Valentine's cards for Mommy and Daddy. Snack time was adorable because Gavin kept talking to the little girl next to him - he's always been our flirt. Of course the gym time was their favorite again.

Don't want to forget this feeling

I always know when Evan is winding down for the night. The boys and I read a book and Evan plays with my fingers. I love this feeling!

Class

Last week at class we learned about Ground Hog's Day. The boys did well. MeMe and I were very happy to observe as they walked into the classroom. It didn't take quite as long for them to warm up - this time only about 10 minutes or so. Gavin wasn't really into the craft but Evan did sit on my lap to help decorate his ground hog. I think their favorite part of class is running around in the gym...they get VERY excited when we are walking down the hall to get there.

This winter stinks!

It's been such a rough winter with sicknesses. After our 6 week or so stretch of on and off colds and stomach bugs in the house we thought we were in the clear. Well we did have about a 2 week stretch until all 4 of us had colds again. Gavin and I both had to take nebulizer treatments. These pics are of him with the treatment and then right after having fun because he could breathe again.

Dr. Evan and Dr. Gavin

The boys love pretending they are Dr's. Anyone that comes over has to have their ears checked for ear infections, get a needle, and have their heart-beats checked.
