Boys first Vacation to the Bahamas

Evan
EvanGavinGavinEvanIn Feb we took a family vacation with the Grace-clan. It was the boys first plane ride and they did well. They slept most of the time and the rest of the flight we played Little Bear on the iPad for them. They were totally chill hangin by the pool with their sunglasses on and smilin' at everyone. We had a ball showing them the fish in the aquarium, letting them touch the ocean and the sand, walking them around in the warm weather, and showing them places we love in the Bahamas. Brian and I were also able to get a hour or so here and there while Meme and Gpop watched the boys...so we'd head right to the pool bar. We also had a date night down by the marina and a couples dinner with Corinne & Ryan and Johnny & Jeanna at the sushi restaurant and then gambling after. As always, we had an absolute great time. It was a relaxing few days....just what we needed to get through the long winter days.

Little sneaks

Brian and I have always said that we will not allow kids in our bed because we will never get them out. We have held to this mutual promise...however the little sneaks have been able to get into our room almost every night for the past few weeks. They wake up, crying, at around mid-night and cry just enough to break us down...especially on work-nights when we need our sleep. We give in and allow them to sleep in their bouncy chairs on the floor beside our bed. I hope we didn't make a mistake allowing this but in the middle of the night when we are cranky and testy with one another that seems to be the only thing that allows all of us (even Jadie) to get our sleep. We just pray that they grow out of this phase.

Allergy...??

The boys may have joined the world of allergies. About a month or so ago they had a pretty bad rash, so much so that our day-care provider asked us to take them to the Dr. We did and low and behold we were told to eliminate cow's milk from their diet for at least a month. At first we were upset but after talking it through we quickly realized that we know many people that live the dairy-free life and they do just fine.......Charlotte was at the top of that list. Char was our inspiration to get through the potentially scary news. If they do indeed have this allergy they will have this in common with their cousin and I will definitely have the best nutrition teacher in my sister. Although I know it will all be fine, I am of course hoping that they don't have the allergy. We will soon find out as the Dr. asked us to introduce the cow's milk again as a test. Stay tuned...

The boys are ready to take their 1st plane ride

Our traditional Bloody Mary to start off our vacation..

Bored watching Mommy pack for the trip

Update...

Life has been so busy lately that it's very hard to find time to blog. Gonna try to catch up a bit...
The boys both have their 2 bottom teeth and their 2 top teeth broke through about a week or so ago. They sit unassisted for a few minutes before falling over, can roll over both ways, and are able to twist and turn while on the floor in order to move around. They pull your face close to theirs if you lean down to give them a kiss. Gavin loves to make monster sounds and Evan laughs at him when he does. They love to sit in their bouncy chairs to watch cartoons. Their giraffe and monkey blankets are always with them.....Gavin does seem to be more attached to his monkey then Evan is to his giraffe. They have the biggest smiles that just melt your heart. Gavin loves to stand and bounce on his legs while you hold him. Evan loves to cuddle with me at night while I sing to him. They both watch Jadie as she walks by and reach out to her so she can kiss their hands. They sleep better with noise in the room rather than quiet. They reach for each other when playing on the floor. Gavin seems to be the more aggressive one with toys that he wants. They both crack up when I lay my head on their belly's to pretend they are pillows. They scratch their heads because they try to put themselves to sleep the way we do when we rub their heads. Gavin kicks his legs and complains to put himself to sleep. Evan always tries to rip his bib off and immediately grabs onto his sleep sack when I zipper it up. Wow....I could really go on and on about the little things the boys do... The truth is that time is going so fast and I was getting nervous that I wasn't taking time out to live in the moment and remember things but as I type this I've quickly realized that I am actually breathing it all in and storing the memories away somewhere in my busy brain. This boys have become Brian and my life...our reason for being on this earth....and we can't wait to show them the world as they grow up.
