Kids say the darndest things
Gavin
- At lunch today the boys and I were looking out back at the birdies flying around. The boys were upset that all but one bird flew away. They were saying that the one bird left was sad because his friends flew away. I told them that they will be back and not to worry. Gavin said "they went to the store to buy some mac and cheese for lunch?" I was hysterical!
Evan
- When the boys went down to nap today I told them that if they were good boys and took a nap we could do a project when they woke up. (These boys LOVE arts n crafts and play doh.) Evan was serious that he wanted to do a project so he laid right down while Gavin was testing me and standing up. He was trying to keep Evan awake. I heard Evan on the monitor saying "Ga stop, night night!" I talked on the monitor and told Gavin to lay down and take a nap. Evan said "thank you Mommy! project!" Too adorable!

Check in with the Doctor
Evie was born at 7lbs 4oz and did dip down while in the hosptial, which is normal, to 6lbs 9oz. When we came home from the hospital she was back up to 6lbs 11oz. I couldn't wait to get to her 1 week Dr. appt to see how much she weighed. She was 6lbs 14oz. This is great that she was going up but we still needed to get her above her birth weight. I was very curious because I'm breast feeding her and it's near impossible to know how much food she is eating. The Dr. said not to worry. She said that she was very happy with Evie's progress and wasn't concerned at all. She told me to bring her back in a week for a weight check. I took her back on 3/12 and she was back up to 7lbs 4oz! Yeah!! So excited! Now I don't have to set my alarm to wake her in the middle of the night. The Dr. told me to just let her wake me up when she's hungry. She said it'll probably be about every 4 hrs but that if she does give me a 5 or 6 hour stretch to expect her to be more hungry during the day. I'm totally fine with that! I'll feed her all day long if she wants so that we can get a good sleep at night. Ha! Since that appt, on average she will sleep for about 5 hours at night before waking me up. I usually feed her around 11ish before going to bed and then she will wake me between 3 and 4am. We then go back to sleep for a couple hours before getting up for the day. Not too bad. This past weekend she was extremely hungry! She'd ask to eat almost every 2 hours during the day. Corinne said that at 3 weeks there is a growth spurt so this is to be expected. The 2 hour thing has slowed down the past few days and she's pretty much back to every 2 1/2 or 3 hours during the day. The next Dr. appt is on Tuesday when she will be 1 month old...WOW!
First bottle with Daddy
I have been breast feeding Evie, and it's going really well, but Brian has been so sad that he can't feed her. I started to pump some milk last week so he was able to feed her. These pictures are of the first bottle feeding. It took her a little bit to understand the bottle was giving her milk but she picked it up pretty quick and sucked down that milk in record time. Brian was very happy to have this bonding time with his daughter.
Learning how to play T-ball
Brian has been teaching the boys how to play T-ball and they are really doing well! Brian is so excited that his boys like his favorite sport.

"Mommy...boo-boo all gone...."
Tonight as we were getting the boys ready for bed Gavin said, with the cutest smile, "Mommy...boo-boo all gone!" I wasn't sure what he was talking about and actually thought he meant a cut on my finger. I looked at him puzzled and he said again "Mommy...boo-boo all gone. yeah!" He then pointed to my belly and I realized he meant from my c section. While I was recovering I wasn't able to move around all that well so I didn't sit on the floor in their room. I hadn't realized but I was now sitting on the floor to help them get ready for bed and Gavin was so excited for me. I was blown away by his memory and sincere excitement that I was able to sit on the floor with them now. I laughed and hugged and kissed him like a 100 times. He was very proud of himself also.
'Tis the season...
I hate the winter! The nebulizer is out way too often. The good news is the boys are not scared of the machine anymore. Here is Gavin being a big boy and holding it himself.
Heading home
Saturday, March 1st, Evie and I got to go home! Yeah! We couldn't wait for Daddy, Evan, and Gavin to get there. Daddy dressed the boys very cute for our ride home. I wanted Eve to have a "Little Sister" shirt for her 1st ride home so Mom and I found one a few weeks ago. Brian and I couldn't believe we were driving home with our 3 beautiful children. How awesome is life? We have everything we ever dreamed of and couldn't be happier. The boys looked like they were very proud of their little sister as we walked through the hospital.
