My babies are officially toddlers...
Last weekend we finished with the forumla. It was definitely a bitter-sweet feeling for me. While I was very excited to be done making bottles every night and realizing how much money we will save, I was sad that it means they aren't infants anymore. Wow how time flies!

Pulled themselves up!
With Evan pulling up to a kneeling position and Gavin climbing into things.....it was only a matter of time before they pulled up to a standing position. Mom was home with them yesterday and I was working from home later in the day. I was working in the kitchen and Mom was playing with them in the sunroom. All of a sudden I heard Mom say "Chrissy, Chrissy come here!" I ran over and found that Evan (top picture) had pulled himself up onto the activity table. Mom and I were so excited! We took pics and told him how proud of him we were. I went back to the kitchen to finish up some work. Not even an hour later Mom was again saying "Chrissy, Chrissy come here!" Gavin had pulled himself up also! Again we took pics and told him how proud we were. Wow.....I guess we need to start counting the days before they start walking. Ugh! (This is why I'm drinking a glass of wine as I blog....may not have that many opportunities going forward.)
Dare-devil
Gavin has become such a little dare-devil. He climbs in and out of things. I was in the kitchen the other night and peeked around to see what was going on. I watched Gavin crawl over to the bouncie chair, climb into it and then look at me and giggle.

Cuddle time
Tonight as I was feeding the boys their "night cap" bottle I realized that our cuddle time at bed-time is over. The past few weeks have been difficult getting them to bed so earlier last week we decided to change the bed time process, which has been helping a lot, but I didn't realize that we made the change without even processing it through. For the past year I've spent an hour (1/2 hour each boy) every night bathing, feeding, and rocking Evan and Gavin to sleep. Now it takes about 1/2 hour a night. I put their PJ's on downstairs and let them chill out watching TV in their chairs while drinking their bottle. Once they are relaxed we take them up and put them down at the same time. While it's a great feeling to actually be back downstairs around 8:15 each night, I really do miss rocking them to sleep. I was talking with Corinne about this and she said "yea, I know...it's sad but it comes back." I asked when?? She said in a year or so they will want to cuddle and watch TV together. I was so sad! I have to wait another year? That's crazy! What's the most shocking to me though is that this process change happened without me even noticing. I typically think everything through and need to formulate a plan for everything before I do it. I'm sure if I had thought this through we'd still be struggling to get them to bed each night and getting more and more tired ourselves. Well, I guess it's just the beginning of things changing as we experience parenthood.

Brought tears to my eyes....
The alarm clock was buzzing and I hit "snooze" a few times until I decided to really open my eyes. I grabed the monitor, as I do every morning, to check on my lil men. This is what I saw....they were holding hands and playing. It brought tears to my eyes! Yes, I've seen them have their arms through the bars and reaching to the opposite crib but this was the first time that I actually caught them touching each other through their cribs. I had to take pic with my cell phone. I've looked at this picture at least a dozen times today. Our sons bond is getting stronger and stronger. Such a blessing they are!
One year Dr. appointment
Tonight we took the boys to their 1 year Dr. appt. Yet again they are pretty much "identical" identical twins. Evan weighs 19 lbs 6 oz and measures 31 3/4 inches. Gavin weighs 19 lbs 5 oz and measures 31 1/2 inches. Both have a head circumference of 19". The nurses and Dr. were laughing about it, as they do at every appointment. They haven't been able to fix their computers yet to read the proper percentiles for the boys and they seemed stressed about it. We told them not to worry, that we don't care....as long as they can report to us that they are growing and progressing ok. The Dr. said "oh, they are growing very nicely." That's all we care about!! She said they are tall boys...a few times....she even asked how tall we are. I asked if they are going to be tall when they grow up and she said "yea, probably." She said their weight is slower in progression then their height but since it's still going up she is completely happy with it. Other than their eczema she gave us a very good report. We couldn't be happier! They did get 3 shots tonight so of course that wasn't fun. Gavin got his shots first and Evan watched as he screamed. Then it was Evan's turn to scream and I looked at Gavin as he watched his brother and sympathized because he knew how it felt. My heart melted. Their bond is getting stronger every day and we are witnessing it before our very own eyes. It's the most beautiful thing ever. When we got home they had dinner, Tylenol and then rested about 20 mins before it was bed time. They were very easy to put down tonight...thank goodness! So now...Brian and I are celebrating our amazing son's with some wine. However, Brian is sitting at the breakfast bar writing some quotes for work and I'm at the kitchen table paying bills. Nonetheless, we are celebrating. :)

Our lil men are ONE!
We had a low-key day on the boys first birthday. The four of us went for a walk to the park and spent some time playing on the swings. Later in the day the boys went in the baby pool. After dinner we sang Happy Birthday to the boys and had some cup cakes at MeMe and G Pop's house. Being that their party was the weekend before we decided to lay low and just enjoy time together as a family. We spent most of the day reminiscing about the day they were born. We laughed a lot and of course I had some tears of joy that are beautiful baby boys are now 1 year old. This past year as seriously flown by....but it's been the best 365 days of our lives. We love our lil men more than words can express!

First taste of ice cream
This weekend we took a stroll down to Donna's and got ice cream for the boys. At first they weren't too sure about it but after a few tries they learned to love it!

Gavin's first crawl
Tuesday of this week Gavin started to crawl. He still prefers the army crawl but we were able to get a few movements on video.
First Birthday Party
We had the boys 1st birthday party on Sunday June 24th at our house in Medford. It was Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme - the boys obsession for the past five months or so....they light up when they see Mickey! The boys were passed around from person to person and did extremely well. They did have to go down for an hour or so snooze during the middle of the party but woke up ready to party some more. They got a tad scared when we sang Happy Birthday and were a bit unsure of putting their hands in the cake. Brian and I put some icing on our finger to give them a taste but they were still too upset to enjoy it. It was an extremely hot day so everyone was in and out of the house to get some relief from the beating sun. All the kids had fun playing on the swing set and playing hide and seek in the house. After all the prep work and stress of making sure it would be a memorable day, the party was a success!
